Augusta Quarry at Fort Dickerson Park
The Augusta Quarry at Fort Dickerson Park is transitioning from an unused and abandoned stone quarry into a public recreation site. The Aslan Foundation is partnering with the City of Knoxville to redesign this site in three phases. Phase one created a temporary parking area to access the quarry lake in the summer of 2017. Phase two in 2018 will include the construction of a gateway, roadway, and parking lot. Phase three will include the construction of a boardwalk, kiosk, and restrooms.
The Augusta Quarry is part of Fort Dickerson Park. Fort Dickerson Park features multiple breathtaking views and overlooks, Civil War earthworks, replica cannons, and multi-use trails across eighty-five acres. Once the Augusta Quarry project is complete, The Aslan Foundation will partner with the City of Knoxville to improve the top of Fort Dickerson Park, which includes the Civil War site, overlooks, and trails.
