Nestled in the heart of Bearden, the Eugenia Williams House is a testament to Regency Style elegance. As the restoration project unfolds, the interior is undergoing a remarkable transformation. From the meticulous refinishing of aged woodwork to the careful restoration of ornate detailing, every effort is being made to carefully restore this historic residence.
One of the most notable aspects of the interior progress is the refinishing of the original woodwork that embellishes the halls and rooms of the Eugenia Williams House. Skilled artisans have been painstakingly repairing and reinstalling the wood paneling in the library, working to bring back the beauty of the hardwood elements. They have also refinished the plaster surfaces and prepped and repainted much of the home, transforming rooms that have weathered the passage of the past thirty years.
Soon, the walls of the Eugenia Williams House will receive a fresh lease on life through carefully selected paint colors. Interior designers with Glave & Holmes Architecture are working with the Aslan Foundation to choose colors that will reinvigorate the memory of Eugenia’s style and taste, complement the house’s elegant design, and evoke the period in which it was originally constructed. The result will be a harmonious blend of old-world charm and renewed vibrancy.
Meanwhile, outside the house, the Aslan Foundation Property Team clears the way for new plantings in the ravine and pasture behind the home by removing vines and deadwood, chipping, and hauling out debris. New tree plantings, such as Blue Atlas cedars, wait to be installed, and other containerized plants are covered against the winter freeze. Stay tuned for further updates on the surrounding property as our team collaborates with lReed Hilderbrand Landscape Architecture, Sanders Pace Architecture, Hickory Construction, and Pride Land Landscaping to restore historic trails and gardens and add new features.
